Sculpture and Circular Economy:

Searching for coherence and constantly concerned by my environmental impact, I carve my sculptures in blocks of marble, granite and alabaster destined to be dumped. I often carve in old tombstones, forgotten stones or "waste'" blocks. Of course, this requires a very specific know-how, as these stones have suffered from time, knocks and frost... but it's an ethical, technical and aesthetic choice. # REUSE-REDUCE-RECYCLE

States of Soul IV - 2024

black Porcelain.
← Previous ← . . . . . → Next →
This black porcelain moves me by the beauty of its material. I like to work it in an almost abrupt, rough modelling style, but also as I do with my marbles sculptures, sanding it down to a grain that is almost like skin.

States of Soul is a serie of porcelain sculptures representing female busts and, of course, my current innerbeing. This one is the fourth in the series, made of black porcelain and expressing my feelings, as well as all those recurring thoughts that haunt us all.
I'm always wondering how things and people
that approach me seem to cling on me,
come to life and create a new reality.

Dimension approx: L=18cm, l=9cm, H=16cm
