Sculpture and Circular Economy: It's possible!

The vast majority of my sculptures are made with recycled marble. I often use old tombstones destined for the dumpster. Other times I use remains of slabs bought from local marble suppliers. Thus Sculpture and Circular Economy becomes possible!

SECOND WAVE… IN CHAOTIC LANDS – LOUISE BLUE QUARTZITE (BRAZIL), RESIN AND GOLD LEAF, 2020

A first wave that pushes us away, a second one that bristles our hair, nevertheless the beauty persists.
I made this sculpture in the secrecy of my workshop during the second semi-confinement. She retraces the emotions I felt during this period. Emotion is my creative motor, and its presence is undeniable these days. Loneliness, fear, hope, extreme lassitude, feeling of injustice, the impossibility of projecting oneself, feeling that you are walking eyes bonded, waiting for something to change. Doesn’t the artist have an important role during these eventful times? A life without art, a life without music, a life without culture, is a flavourless life. We are going to need to reinvent ourselves after this strange period.
